Dreamforce to You 2020 in Perth

Dreamforce in 2020

Every year, Dreamforce is an amazing event that takes over San Francisco for a week. Dreamforce 2019 had over 171,000 registered attendees and 2,700+ sessions and workshops. The cost of flights, difficult hotel bookings and 20 hours of flying (plus stop over) wasn’t enough to prevent planning straight after the 2019 event but but COVID sure did. The attraction isn’t about the hype or the swag, it’s about the connections you make with people from around the globe on a similar journey. Salesforce really have a difficult job in trying to substitute that.

Dreamforce to You 2020 is the substitute. It’s a really good attempt to fill the void in the tricky times. Like sporting events without the crowd, the energy is lacking. It’s not the same but it is a chance for different opportunities. In Perth, the proactive measures by the WA State government implemented the appropriate controls to keep us safe with few restrictions. This meant that we, as a local community, were able to meet up for a Dreamforce event, organised by the local Salesforce team.

Dreamforce to You 2020 Perth was held at the Flour Factory on 3 December 2020.

What is Dreamforce to You 2020?

Salesforce promotes “Dreamforce to You 2020 is a customized, digital experience for our customers, trailblazers and stakeholders to inspire, connect and define the blueprint for how to succeed in this new normal”. It consists of three core pillars:

  • Personalized experiences: For our customers, we’ll create a personalized event to address their unique needs and help their business succeed. We’ll host these meetings throughout November and December.

This might be good but partners don’t get the same invite.

  • Dreamforce to You keynote: In the early hours of December 3 AWST, Salesforce Chair and CEO Marc Benioff delivered a keynote on the vision for the future, celebrate customers’ success, and unveiled the new innovations across the Salesforce Customer 360 Platform.

I regularly lost a focus when I could see Mark’s sneakers. (New company uniform idea). The second thing was the purchase of Slack, which is a great addition to replace Chatter. The combination is set up to rival Microsoft and their good work with Teams.

  • DreamTX: During the week of December 14, we’ll dedicate four days to learning with DreamTX (start and end date vary based on where you are in the world). Attendees will have access to demos, luminary sessions and additional content to help them succeed. Sign up at Dreamforce.com.

DreamTX is the learning part and the timing, just before the Christmas break, is going to be interesting. The Christmas break is for catching up on incomplete items and starting fresh. It looks like my list looks is getting bigger. DreamTX will be great.

Dreamforce To You is great but I still prefer the focus of physically being at a learning event with the global Ohana. Fingers crossed we can get back to normal soon.
